HOW TO GET TO ALICANTE

EL ALTET INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Only 12 km from the city centre, El Altet airport lies between Alicante and Elche and can be reached along the A7 motorway and the N332 main road.

The El Altet International Airport is one of the biggest airports in Spain. It has 19 direct connections with other Spanish cities, around 60 connections with cities in EU countries and 15 outside the European Union. It has connections with 20 different countries.

Inside Spain, El Altet International Airport is directly connected with Asturias, Barcelona, Bilbao, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Lanzarote, León, Madrid, Málaga, Menorca, Salamanca, Palma de Mallorca, Santander, Santiago de Compostela, Sevilla, Tenerife Sur, Vigo and Valladolid. Among the direct connections with international destinations we find: Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Vienna, Brussels, Copenhagen, Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Reykjavik, Luxembourg, Oslo, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Moscow, Stockholm, Geneva and Monastir.

At present, El Altet International airport is undergoing important works in order to improve and enlarge its facilities. The works are expected to be finished in 2010, with a completely new terminal. The airport’s capacity will increase 122% in relation with its capacity in the year 2005.

The C6 shuttle runs between the airport and the city centre every 40 minutes. There are also direct connections to Benidorm and Murcia.

The airport also has car parking, car-hire companies and a taxi rank.
