Alicante consolidates its MICE leadership as host of the Spain Convention Bureau National Association Meeting

ALICANTE, April 15, 2026 – The city of Alicante today successfully concluded the Spain Convention Bureau (SCB) national meeting, a strategic event that brought together MICE destination representatives and decision-makers from Spain’s leading professional associations and federations over three days.

The event, organized by the Spain Convention Bureau in collaboration with the Alicante Convention Bureau, served to showcase firsthand the operational capacity and potential of the city as a premier venue for high-impact congresses, meetings, and events.

State-of-the-art infrastructure and institutional support

The final session of the meeting took place at the ADDA (Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium). Attendees toured this benchmark facility, which is key to the MICE sector due to its architectural design and technical excellence.

During the morning, the City Councilor for Tourism, Ana Poquet, personally welcomed the delegation of decision-makers. During the meeting, Poquet highlighted the city's commitment to business tourism and the importance of public-private partnership in positioning Alicante as a competitive destination capable of offering versatile solutions for large-scale events.

A destination linked to the sea

Beyond the technical sessions and venue visits, the program allowed participants to experience Alicante’s unique identity. Yesterday, the group enjoyed various nautical activities, a distinguishing feature that identifies the destination with the Mediterranean and offers endless possibilities for the incentive segment. The city's connection to the sea is reaffirmed as one of the major draws for event organizers seeking to combine professional rigor with unique experiences in a privileged environment.

National participation

This meeting highlighted not only the local offer but also featured 7 other national destinations that are members of the SCB: Burgos, Cartagena, Gijón, Girona, Málaga, Seville, and Vitoria-Gasteiz. Together, they worked alongside national decision-makers from various sectors—ranging from medical and scientific fields to the business world.

With the conclusion of this event, the Alicante Convention Bureau reaffirms its promotional strategy to attract association events that generate a positive and lasting impact on the city, focusing on deseasonalization and excellence in service.
