Alicante, April 23, 2026. The Alicante Convention Bureau confirms that the city has been chosen as the official host for the National Congress of the Spanish Society of Emergency Medicine (SEMES) in 2027. Alicante’s bid was selected following a comprehensive audit of venues and services conducted by the organizing committee in December 2025.
The congress, one of the largest on the national medical calendar, will attract 3,000 delegates, generating a significant economic impact and high-level visibility for the capital of the Costa Blanca.
Venues with a Unique Identity Alicante’s technical proposal stood out for its integration of iconic spaces. The sessions will be held at the ADDA (Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium) and the Las Cigarreras cultural and business complex.
In a notable development, the congress will utilize the Casa de la Misericordia, a space that is part of the ambitious restoration project of the former Alicante Tobacco Factory industrial complex. This commitment to reclaiming industrial heritage for convention use was a decisive factor in the selection of the host city.
"The arrival of SEMES in 2027 is a recognition of Alicante’s operational capacity and our commitment to offering unique venues that provide added value to the delegate’s experience," stated the Alicante Convention Bureau. "The Casa de la Misericordia and the Casa de la Música in Las Cigarreras represent an Alicante that cherishes its history while looking towards the future."
This event reaffirms Alicante’s position as a preferred destination for the MICE sector, characterized by its connectivity, high-quality hotel infrastructure, and a range of venues that combine technical excellence with the city's historical legacy.
